I imagine it was much different in the 1970s. That was the Renaissance for black actors, albeit in blaxploitation movies. There was a much greater preponderance of work then than there is now. ↗
Now, in reality, the world have paid too great a compliment to critics, and have imagined them to be men of much greater profundity then they really are. ↗
People whose understanding and taste in literature, painting, and music are beyond question are, for the most part, ignorant of what is good or bad art in the theater. ↗
Even within the last three or four years, I have a greater ability to communicate, I think. I have more courage to show the stuff... And it does take courage. ↗
