I occasionally play works by contemporary composers and for two reasons. First to discourage the composer from writing any more and secondly to remind myself how much I appreciate Beethoven.

He is widely regarded as the most important and influential violinist of the twentieth century. He had a long and successful recording career; after an injury to his right (bowing) arm he focused on teaching.
