I was curious and hungry at a young age, and jazz was such a mystery to me, an ocean where you can express yourself in the moment. It represented freedom, it represented wearing wings and going somewhere with music.

The album's debut single "I Believe In Love" was initially not a success but was remixed by producer Jonathan Peters into a successful dance song. Among them was "Producer of the Year" (Cole was the second woman to ever be nominated in this category); Paula Cole did not win but Paula Cole did go on to win "Best New Artist" that same year. Records This Fire which was entirely self-produced.
