As one scholar has written "Even though women were never very much appreciated by Quevedo who is labeled as a misogynist it is impossible to imagine that there was anyone else who could adore them more. Despite his satirical work however Quevedo was primarily a serious poet who could write touching and well-regarded love poems.
Francisco Gómez de Quevedo y Santibáñez Villegas (Spanish: [fɾanˈθisko ðe keˈβeðo]; 14 September 1580 – 8 September 1645) was a Spanish nobleman politician and writer of the Baroque era. His style is characterized by what was called conceptismo. Along with his lifelong rival Luis de Góngora Quevedo was one of the most prominent Spanish poets of the age.
