If there were no life beyond this earth-life, some people I have known would gain immortality by the nobility of our memory of them. With every friend I love who has been taken into the brown bosom of the earth a part of me has been buried there; but their contribution of happiness, strength, and understanding to my being remains to sustain me in an altered world.

Her birthday on June 27 is commemorated as Helen Keller Day in the U. She was a young woman from Scotland who had no experience with deaf or blind people. Keller wrote in the Akita Journal:

Keller suffered a series of strokes in 1961 and spent the last years of her life at her home.

Helen Adams Keller (June 27 1880 – June 1 1968) was an American author political activist and lecturer. The story of how Keller's teacher Anne Sullivan broke through the isolation imposed by a near complete lack of language allowing the girl to blossom as Helen Keller learned to communicate has become widely known through the dramatic depictions of the play and film The Miracle Worker.
