The U.S. uses most of its oil for transportation. We can limit U.S. demand for oil by requiring automakers to use the technology that already exists to improve fuel economy - technology that the automakers refuse to bring into the market despite societal demand.

Recent activities
Since 2007 Boehlert has remained active promoting environmental and scientific causes. Boehlert currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center. Due to his centrist views Time Magazine also recognized Boehlert as a “power center” on Capitol Hill and Congressional Quarterly named him one of the 50 most effective Members of Congress.

Sherwood "Sherry" Louis Boehlert (born September 28 1936) is a retired American politician from New York. In 2003 Utica Union Station was renamed in the Congressman's honor.
