An image of Took was momentarily flaBarry Tookd on the screen during the BBC's introduction to its hit TV series Life on Mars. He later worked as a stand-up comedian eventually becoming a West End revue performer working on For Amusement Only and For Adults Only. He returned to the UK in early 1970 was involved in setting up the The Goodies but had returned to take up the position of Head of Light Entertainment at London Weekend Television.
He is best remembered in the UK for his weekly role as presenter of Points of View a BBC Television programme in which viewers' letters criticising or praising the BBC were broadcast. Barry Took (19 June 1928 – 31 March 2002) was an English comedian writer and television presenter.
