Life and career
Russell was born Helen Louise Leonard in Clinton Iowa. Russell married Solomon in 1884 a year after their daughter Dorothy Lillian Russell was born and travelled with him to England. C.
She later returned to musical roles in vaudeville however finally retiring from performing around 1919. In 1899 Lillian Russell joined the Weber and Fields's Music Hall where Lillian Russell starred for five years. After 1904 Lillian Russell began to have vocal difficulties and switched to dramatic roles.
