On November 4 1948 the United States Post Office commemorated Rogers with a first day cover of a 3-cent stamp with his image—the inscription reads "In honor of Will Rogers Humorist Claremore Oklahoma. The rest of his career he built around that skill.
By the mid-1930s Rogers was adored by the American people. His vaudeville rope act led to success in the Ziegfeld Follies which in turn led to the first of his many movie contracts.
