Northam was born in Cambridge Cambridgeshire the youngest of four siblings. He is best known for his roles as Ivor Novello in the 2001 film Gosford Park as Dean Martin in the 2002 television film Martin and Lewis and as Thomas More in the Showtime series The Tudors.
