I think the internal combustion engine will disappear from the streets of our cities in the next thirty years because transportation will be mass transportation, or probably electrical power.

Fraternity membership
Nelson is an initiated member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity having been initiated in 1971 during a trip to La Grange Georgia to promote the 2nd Annual Earth Day. We have to address the population issue. )


Life after politics
After Nelson's 1980 defeat for re-election he became counselor for The Wilderness Society in January 1981.
