I used to look at these pictures of trumpeters pointing their instrument to the ceiling. Stunning pictures, but if you play the trumpet and point it upwards, all the spit comes back into your mouth!

Humphrey Richard Adeane Lyttelton (23 May 1921 – 25 April 2008) also known as Humph was an English jazz musician and broadcaster and chairman of the BBC radio comedy programme I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. As a performer he is perhaps best-remembered for the hit single "Bad Penny Blues" (1956).
