I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong.

As the group disintegrated towards the end of the decade Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969 he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon revealed a rebellious nature and acerbic wit in his music writing drawings on film and in interviews.
