William Thomas Stead

The magazine ceased publication in 1897. The site is utilised by a wide variety of learning institutions including libraries colleges and universities within the UK and around the world. At the time Stead at just 22 was the youngest newspaper editor in the country.

He was influential in demonstrating how the press could be used to influence public opinion and government policy and advocated "government by journalism". He was also well known for his reportage on child welfare social legislation and reformation of England's criminal codes.
