Robert Muldoon

In March 1947 Muldoon joined a newly founded branch of the Junior Nationals the youth wing of the conservative New Zealand National Party. The party lost control of the House ending 12 years in power. In 1939 we learned the folly of appeasement.

Muldoon had been a prominent member of the National party and MP for the Tamaki electorate for some years prior to becoming leader of the party. Despite being a polarising figure during his time as Prime Minister Muldoon's impact on New Zealand society faded after his retirement.
