At a press conference on February 13 2005 at the Delta Center the arena of the Utah Jazz Malone officially announced his retirement from the NBA after 19 seasons. Bush and $2000 to the 2004 U. His bid failed as the Lakers were defeated in five games by the Detroit Pistons in the 2004 NBA Finals.

The Jazz drafted Malone in 1985 with the 13th overall pick in the first round. Malone played college basketball at Louisiana Tech University. He spent his first 18 seasons (1985–2003) in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Utah Jazz and formed a formidable duo with his teammate John Stockton.
