Read through the most famous quotes from Geoffrey Boycott
Early career
England hosted New Zealand and South Africa in 1965. Boycott took seven hours and 22 minutes to score 77 runs and England were bowled out for 64 when chasing 137 to win. Boycott's initial appearances for Yorkshire failed to impress and he was compared unfavourably to his main rival John Hampshire.
Since retiring as a player Boycott has found further success as a cricket commentator. Others however have stated that the extent of his introverted nature has been exaggerated and that while he was "obsessed with success" he was not a selfish player. After his playing career ended Boycott became an often outspoken and controversial cricket commentator on both radio and television.
